FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What can I expect in a counseling session?

My belief is that you are the expert of your own life and needs. You're in the driver’s seat and I’m here to help you navigate. During our sessions, we’ll explore your concerns, emotions, and experiences with the goal of gaining insight and working toward positive, lasting change. I’ll offer support, tools, and guidance to help you move toward a place that feels empowering, steady, and aligned with who you are.

How often should I attend counseling?

The frequency of counseling sessions depends on your unique needs and goals. Initially, weekly or bi-weekly sessions are common to establish rapport and delve deeper into the issues at hand. As progress is made, sessions may be spaced out to once every few weeks or as needed.

Is counseling confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is a fundamental aspect of counseling. Your privacy is highly respected, and information shared during sessions is strictly confidential, except in situations where there is a risk of harm to yourself or others. I will discuss the limits of confidentiality during the first session to ensure clarity and trust.

Is counseling covered by insurance?

I’m a self-pay provider and don’t bill insurance directly, but I do offer superbills for potential out-of-network reimbursement. I’m also a provider with the EAP Lyra. You can read more about self-pay benefits and payment options here.

Are sessions in person or virtual?

I offer both in-person and virtual sessions, and many clients choose a mix of the two depending on what works best for their schedule and needs. Whether you're nearby or prefer the flexibility of meeting online, we can find what fits best for you.
